What is Tube Feeding?
Tube feeding is a procedure used for placing food, fluids and drugs directly into the stomach or small intestine through a tube inserted through the nose (nasogastric tube) or abdomen (PEG). Indications for tube feeding are prolonged anorexia, severe protein-energy undernutrition, coma or depressed sensorium, liver failure, inability to take oral feedings due to head or neck trauma and critical illnesses (e.g., burns) causing metabolic stress. Tube feeding supports patients in Intensive Care Units, different wards and in homecare.
We at Fresenius Kabi want to help “Tubies” to live their life and dreams well nourished. We offer a complete range of tube feeds under the brand “Fresubin”.
