Product Information:
- Electrolyte content of RL is very similar to the free conc. in plasma, hence can be infused
- rapidly without the risk of electrolyte imbalance. Sodium lactate in RL is metabolized in
- liver to bicarbonate. As RL provides bicarbonate, it is useful in the correction of
- metabolic acidosis
- Patients with vomiting or continuous nasogastric aspiration may have hypovolemia and metabolic alkalosis. It may worsen alkalosis.
- In liver disease, severe hypoxia and shock, severe metabolic acidosis lactate metabolism is severely impaired, RL infusion can lead to lactate acidosis in such patients
